The train ride was uneventful - Constance slept most of the way while I, using the handy free wifi on the train, managed to check email and update the blog (though obviously I didn't get very far).
Once we got off the train we met a very dapper older gentleman who was also trying to make his way to the taxi queue. From the train to the queue we got separated only to be reunited again at the queue itself where he accused me of being a "very wicked" young woman for stealing his cab! He was joking of course, but I told him is was Constance's fault because she was my mother. We had a good laugh and went our separate ways once again.
Our B&B in York was just on the edge of town - thankfully, as the town was crawling with people! It was called the City Guest House and our room was a very welcome sight after what felt like a never ending day of train travel.

While we were both pretty wiped out, the day was beautiful and we didn't stay in for very long. We made our way to the tourist information office, picked up a few maps and brochures and found ourselves a busy pub called Harkers to stop and have a drink while we looked over our loot and decided how to spend our two days in York.
York is a quaint...not so little...little village full of history, shops and pedestrian streets. It's a great town to wander around in, which is what we did after our drink until we got hungry at which point we sat ourselves down in an Indian restaurant called the Viceroy a few doors down from our B&B. Yes, we were adventurous, but Indian cuisine didn't seem to something new in York as there were quite a few to choose from! It was a good meal and we were very satisfied to go back to the B&B and lay our weary well fed heads to rest for the night.
